Food.

The word "organic" has become, to some, merely a feel-good word, indicating a modicum of concern for health and a passing awareness of The Environment, whatever that is. For the truly savvy food shopper, though, the word organic, or, the term 100% organic, refer, very specifically, to closely monitored established standards of responsible farming.

In order to use a "CERTIFIED ORGANIC" seal, a farmer must:

  • grow crops in accordance with the certifying agencies guidelines
  • be conscientious about soil building
  • keep detailed records of all farming practices and materials used
  • receive annual inspections from an independent evaluator

What does all this agricultural administration amount to? Where's the benefit? Well, that's up to us. When we choose certified organically grown produce, or the good things that are made from it, we are:

  • preventing further chemical pollution of soil, air and water
  • reducing the enormous amount of energy required to produce chemical fertilizers
  • helping to create healthy soils
  • supporting farmers who have chosen to practice a sustainable form of farming.

Why Buy Organic?

  • Organically grown foods are produced without the use of synthetic fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides, hormones or antibodies.
  • Foods are grown and handled according to strict standards that are verified by independent organizations.
  • Certified Organic foods are not irradiated and do not contain genetically modified organisms.
  • Organic farmers work with nature to replenish the soil for a sustainable future.
  • Organic foods are nutritious and taste great!
